Bakersfield, CA
For this $28 million federal courthouse building, security is of high priority. Thoma Electric helped engineer the 31,000 square foot federal building’s sophisticated electronic systems, including electronic camera surveillance, U.S. Marshall Detention Facility and sally port, secure elevators, vehicle security system, smoke and full voice evacuation systems and an access control system. But while security is paramount, so is being green. The facility is equipped with a 33,000 watt solar photovoltaic renewable energy system, LED courtroom lighting and automatic controls. On top of it all, the federal building received LEED Platinum Level Certification, the first courthouse in the U.S. to achieve the designation.
