Meet the Team: Thoma welcomes two new employees to specialize in CAD

Two new employees have joined the Thoma team as computer-aided-design (CAD) professionals, bolstering the company’s design efforts with more than 30 years of experience.

The new drafters are Seth McIver and Tina Reyes.

CAD software was designed to make a variety of design tasks more efficient, allowing drafters to create technical drawings with computers instead of the old technology – pencils, rulers and paper. With CAD software they can create 3-D and 2-D models that offer more details, and CAD makes it easier to quickly edit and revise.

Having worked in the communications industry for 18 years – 14 with light electrical design – McIver has designed fiber optic and wireless communications infrastructure throughout California for over a decade. He has earned certifications from Berk-Tek, NetWORKS administration software and Positron.

McIver said he looks forward to joining Thoma’s close-knit company.

“The positive family environment, with room to grow as an employee and a company, is what excited me most about Thoma Electric,” he said.

When he’s not drafting, McIver plays basketball and is currently preparing to welcome a new family member: His second child, Reilly Cole McIver, is due in October!

During her 12 years in the industry, Reyes has earned Level I and II certifications from Renton Technical College. For past employers, she was not only technically savvy, but got to use her creative side, too by creating holiday greeting cards, and the logo for a local water district in King County, WA.

Having moved to California from Seattle in April, she said she’s excited to join an intelligent team that made it easy to adjust to a new hometown.

“Being new to the company and new to the area, Thoma made me feel very welcomed and made this change an amazing one,” she said.

When she’s not creating designs and logos, Reyes likes to face paint and create FX makeup — “which makes October my favorite time of the year because of all the Halloween fun!”
